Anyone remember him as Bobby in the '70's series TAXI? He died apparently in a coma from drug overdose at the age of 60. His substance abuse not only limited the work he could get but eventually didn't allow him to live at all. This is very sad. I think he would have been a wonderful comic performer. I had heard he was in a coma, but didn't know he had died. From what was said in the paper, it sounds like his role in Taxi was his only substantial acting gig, and he quit after three years because he didn't think his character was being allowed to grow. It was probably is disappointment in his lackluster career that caused him to start abusing drugs and alcohol, although this is just a guess on my part.

Apparently the poor guy became hooked on painkillers following a back injury. Poor thing went through FIVE back surgeries, at least according to wikipedia, and contracted pneumonia. Being hooked on pain killers, according to Dr. Drew, didn't allow him to feel how sick he was to seek treatment. R.I.P. Jeff.
